Accenture posts higher Q4, sees record bookings
Accenture reported strong financial results for the fourth quarter and record results for the full 2008 fiscal year, ended August 31, 2008, including its highest-ever annual revenues, earnings per share, bookings, operating income and cash flow.

For the fourth quarter, net revenues were $6.00billion, compared with $5.11billion for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2007, an increase of 17percent in U.S. dollars and 10percent in local currency.
Diluted earnings per share for the quarter were $0.67, compared with $0.50 in the same period last year, an increase of 35percent.
Consulting net revenues were $3.61billion, an increase of 19percent in U.S. dollars and 11percent in local currency over the fourth quarter of fiscal 2007.
New bookings for the quarter rose to $7.67billion, a quarterly record. This reflects an 8percent foreign-currency lift from the new bookings reported in the fourth quarter last year.
Consulting new bookings were $3.63 billion, or 47percent of fourth-quarter bookings.
Operating income for the quarter grew 22percent, to $785million, and operating margin expanded 50 basis points compared with the fourth quarter last year.
Accenture forecast net revenue growth in the next fiscal year of 9 percent to 12 percent from $23.39 billion in fiscal 2008.
For the full fiscal year, net revenues were a record $23.39billion, compared with $19.70billion for fiscal 2007, an increase of 19 percent in U.S. dollars and 11 percent in local currency.
New bookings for the full fiscal year were a record $26.79billion, representing an increase of 22percent in U.S. dollars and 15percent in local currency over fiscal 2007.
Consulting new bookings were $14.77billion, an increase of 17percent in U.S. dollars and 9percent in local currency over fiscal 2007. Consulting represented 55percent of total new bookings in fiscal 2008.
Operating income for the full year grew 21 percent, to $3.01billion, and operating margin expanded 20 basis points compared with fiscal 2007.
Accenture forecast net revenue growth in the next fiscal year of 9 percent to 12 percent from $23.39 billion in fiscal 2008.
Net revenues by operating group for the full fiscal year were as follows:
-- Communications & High Tech: $5,450million, compared with $4,600million for fiscal 2007, an increase of 18percent in U.S. dollars and 10percent in local currency.
-- Financial Services: $5,005million, compared with $4,357million for fiscal 2007, an increase of 15percent in U.S. dollars and 6percent in local currency.
-- Products: $6,069million, compared with $4,913million for fiscal 2007, an increase of 24percent in U.S. dollars and 17percent in local currency.
-- Public Service: $2,871million, compared with $2,561million for fiscal 2007, an increase of 12percent in U.S. dollars and 7percent in local currency.
-- Resources: $3,963million, compared with $3,243 million for fiscal 2007, an increase of 22percent in U.S. dollars and 14percent in local currency.
Net revenues by geographic region for the full fiscal year were as follows:
-- Americas: $9,726million, compared with $8,483million for fiscal 2007, an increase of 15percent in U.S. dollars and 12percent in local currency.
-- Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA): $11,546million, compared with $9,534million for fiscal 2007, an increase of 21percent in U.S. dollars and 10percent in local currency.
-- Asia Pacific: $2,115million, compared with $1,679million for fiscal 2007, an increase of 26percent in U.S. dollars and 15percent in local currency.
